The Journey of an Artist
The journey of an artist is like the journey of a butterfly. A butterfly starts life as a small, cylindrical egg, and by looking closely, we can see a tiny caterpillar growing inside. The same way we grow as an artist at every stage of our lives.
We all have done drawings of a mountain, house, and river. Shapes were not perfect, but that brought out our creative imagination on paper. How much ever teacher told us to draw perfect shapes, though we used to draw something different despite copying from drawings of our friend sitting next to us. Art boosted our creative energy in our childhood. Then why pursuing a career in an art field is not considered a good decision by our society. Most parents want their kids to be good at drawing in childhood, should not pursue a career in the art field. In my case, I was lucky enough.
Whenever I said that I was studying applied art, everyone reacted as if I would not get a well-paid job. It is just a myth. So in this field, art is created for commercial use like newspaper ads, magazine ads, TVCs, and many more.
Being an artist is considered an inborn talent. People say that artists are gifted. An artist finds his way to develop his skills. That does not happen in a few days. It takes years for an artist to develop his art style.
An artist is not good at everything. Someone is good at typography but bad at human anatomy. We try our best to be good at all things. We had a few theory papers and more practical ones. Having patience for five hours is not that easy. We also have pressure on our minds before our exams.
An artist wants people to understand the value of art. Never say one thing to an artist, “Mera bhi ek portrait banake de na". They are tired of hearing that. That does not mean they do not like giving portraits to people. But they love doing art for some special people in our lives. It is like a thanksgiving by an artist to someone, and doing that makes them happier.
How art has inspired me
Whenever I have given portraits to some people in my life, their happy faces have inspired me to keep going.
On the day of Raksha Bandhan, I had gifted portraits to my brothers and for my grandmother. When she saw the painting, her eyes filled with tears. I realized what art does to a person.
Art never comes the best on the first attempt. It has taught me how to deal with failures and always raised hope in my mind.
Art teaches an artist to never give up in life. Art is the new meditation.
Art is a healer in itself.
Art taught me to observe things happening around me from a different perspective. Teachers suggested that I should keep a record of daily observations. Following are a few observations:
- The red signal made a guy worried about being late, though a flower-selling girl was overwhelmed at the same time.
- Marc Chagall
" Every human is an artist. The dream of your life is to make beautiful art."
And my friend will be the well known artist in this world ♥️😊
